TOS KURIM-OS, a.s. (www.tos-kurim.cz) Brno, Czech Republic, is pleased to announce that they recently shipped four model FUQ 150-VR/8 CNC Horizontal Machining Centres to BelAZ, Belarus.

BelAZ is located in Zhodino, Belarus, is a leading manufacturer of dump trucks and front-end loaders for the mining industry and has been a major customer for TOS KURIM for many years. BelAZ produces approximately 200 different versions of trucks and loaders from 20 to 200 ton capacity. The company also produces bull dozers for road construction; special transportation vehicles for the steel and iron industry as well as a variety of different underground trucks for mines and tunnels.

The TOS KURIM machines consist of four FUQ 150-VR/8 CNC Floor Type Machining Centres, each with 7000 mm of X-Axis (horizontal) column travel arranged in two work centres. The two groups of two machines face one another across a stationary work clamping table. This “Duo” concept allows for machining or workpieces from both sides at the same time, either together or independently. The machine configuration also allows for the automatic changing of different spindle heads using a head magazine located beside the machines.

The acceptance of the four machines by BelAZ, took place at TOS KURIM in November 2008 and after special packaging, was dispatched on 20 trucks to Belarus in the beginning of December 2008.

Prior to this order, in 2002, TOS KURIM manufactured and supplied to BelAZ, two model FFDQ 250-OOR/A8 Duo-Type Horizontal Machining Centres as well as a model JÚS-3D Special Purpose Machine.

Since 1999, ALTA, a.s. Brno, Czech Rep. (parent company of TOS KURIM) has helped in the modernization of the BelAZ company by supplying machine tools; shaping machines; presses; as well as measuring and control equipment. The total value of the contract to date has reached 105 million U.S. dollars.
