Moving gantry saves time and place

To extend its technological options, T Machinery a. s., the manufacturer of mining technology, has chosen the FRFQ 250 - VR/A8 milling centre made by TOS KURIM - OS. Following a year-long experience with its operation, it appreciates in particular less consumed time, which enabled to cut down delivery deadlines significantly.

T Machinery, a. s., Ratíškovice, belongs to the foremost Czech manufacturers of mining technologies, with a high share of export-oriented contracts. Its production program is made up in particular of mining cutting and loading machines, mechanical supports, face cutting drag conveyors and undercutting mining machinery. In 2007 the company resolved to broaden out its technological range with the aim to lower its dependence on component-making cooperators which, in respect to the time-intensive and sophisticated workpieces, are regarded as strategic components. “When all alternatives were taken into consideration, we opted for the FRFQ 250 – VR/A8 machining centre which complied with all technological planning conceptions needed for tooling of chosen components in accordance to our requirements and, simultaneously, made it possible to broaden out technological possibilities within the five-axis machining of large sizes. The concept of the moving gantry contributed to diminishing the machine layout dimensions which made placing of machines in the production area easier, “explained Ing. Marek Milde, manager of the II division of T Machinery, a. s., Ratíškovice. Following a year-long experience, he made a very positive assessment of the investment into the new machine: “From the very first design we calculated savings which the first pilot operation only corroborated. We saw a drop of overall cost of machining by ten to fifteen percent. However, we regard the more than thirty percent cutting down of time needed for manufacture as much more important, which contributed to the shortening of overall ongoing time of production. Thus we are capable of responding to customer’s requests much faster. Due to buying the FRFQ machine, we have gained a lot of contacts to companies that need such technology”.
